UV Stabilization
PVC (polyvinyl chloride) resin and certain formulation additives dicolor when exposed to the suns' ultraviolet rays (UV). This is a natural phenomenon that will destroy and discolor PVC and many of its physical properties unless it is specially formulated to inhibit its degradation.

Christy's super Hot Vinyl adhesives are specifically formulated for long-term stability and integrity. After 208 hours of exposure to a UV lamp, no discoloration was evident with Christy's Super Hot Vinyl Adhesives.
The Test
To prove the point, T. Christy too its Super Hot White Vinyl Adhesive versus clear solvent cements widely used throughout the industry and subjected them to UV testing. Product was troweled and fethered on opaque white acrylic plates. With no exposure, as you can see the image below, all looked okay initially.

However, at 144 hours under the UV lamp discoloration has taken place with Industry Standard #1 and #2. At 192 hours the discoloration is more intense, and at 208 hours (which is considered a significant number of hours equal to many years outdoors) the test was terminated.

| Making Repairs |
|
Christy's Red Hot Vinyl solvents are also excellent for making repairs to nail holes, saw cuts or scarred areas (cigarette burns, etc.) on a fence or deck system. The areas should be clean, free of dirt, oil or grease before starting the repair. A sufficient quantity of Christy's Red Hot Vinyl should be applied to form a "bubble" on the repair area. The "bubble" may sag or be worked in with a small brush or Q-tip on a deck repair. Allow the "bubble" to cure.

There will be considerable shrinkage so a second or third application may be required to cover the burn. Allow the second or third applications to cure thoroughly. Once cured, a single-edge razor blade my be used to trim the surface. The areas can also be sanded. If the opening is too large, a stiff backing may be necessary to support the sealant. Red Hot Vinyl will not add to the structural strength of a product so extreme care must be taken when fusing two surfaces together.
IMPORTANT - Try a small area for color match
